David Attenborough’s “New Life”
When I started LA Hiker, I intended for it to be a place for me to really showcase my own nature videos and highlight a few environmental issues that are near and dear to my heart. And we’ve been all over California, filming natural wonders and amazing things. But what I’ve come to understand, is that life is abundant and all pervasive. It manages to survive and evolve in a myriad of ways, revealing itself in a kaleidoscope of forms that…lucky me…I can go out and video. David Attenborough, in his latest show entitled “New Life”, has really highlighted this fact for me personally.
Life, so it seems, had a mission. It became cells, fish, amphibians, insects, dinosaurs, birds, mammals, and marsupials. All of this seems to have been fate. Could it have gone any other way? Maybe we could have had mouths on our foreheads, and eyes on our legs….
After billions of years, we are the descendants of this diversity. We are the latest incarnation in an ever changing stream of organisms constantly moving towards perfection. Watching this show, New Life, it becomes clear that we are (yes here comes the cliche) all connected. Perhaps this gives us new reasons to take care of our environment and protect what amounts to our extended family….
